Sometimes (but not every time) I get display corruption when running either
virtualbox or calibre.
my display will get very dim and the color resolution seems to drop to 16
colors. my display is unusable.
if I close the program or bring another window to the foreground the display
goes back to normal.
Someone else suggested it may be related to using QT libraries in gnome.
