I still have this problem on Ubuntu 15.10. Note that this version does not contain the xserver-xorg-video-sis anymore, but it does contain the sisfb module.
Now the vesafb driver is loaded now, but it does not seem to be a module. I tried to use the instructions from this thread to load sisfb instead plus updating the initramfs files, but it didn't work: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1423381 I think that the in-kernel vesafb prevents sisfb from loading or it's not properly added to the initramfs. Should I reopen this bug or create a new one? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sis in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290727 Title: sisfb is not automatically loaded with a SiS display adapter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-sis/+bug/290727/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
