What motherboard and CPU are you using Miklos? I never bothered trying xenial and went straight to archlinux w/kde.
The issue seems to be driver/xorg related and I had submitted a bug report to KDE when I encountered a similar issue (kde drops back out to login screen instead of freezing the gui).
