Hello Christopher, Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I have since upgraded to 14.04 LTS so cannot provide the debugging info you require.
I'm pretty certain(?) I have still had the problem - but much less frequently than 12.04 - since upgrading to 14.04... If I definitely get the black screen again on 14.04 shall I log it here or start a new bug report? And does your suggestion (apport-collect -p xorg 1336227) also apply to 14.04 or was that specific to 12.04 ?
