Thank you, Tormod! The app-freezes with the PPA are gone, only for some reason the dri device isn't created automatically. I have to mknod /dev/dri/card0 c 226 0 && chmod 666 /dev/dri/card0. I probably brought this onto myself though. Still investigating.
