Today my setting is still System > Preferences > Power Management > Power Management Preferences > On AC Power (> Actions) > When laptop lid is closed:=Suspend. When I closed the lid today, the hard disk ceased spinning. When I opened the lid the hard disk re-started spinning but the display screen remained dark (although the backlight was on). This is in contrast to my yesterday's findings. This is similar to describe as Allan Caeg did.
