Got this error after installing kubuntu-desktop from cli and selecting sddm (which failed to install as screen was black next reboot) recofigured to return to lightdm and purged sddm, next reboot, error on unity login reporting sddm was not installed correctly, screen resolution has changed. Not seen this error before this.
