I tried this with a fresh CD of Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6. The driver is working considerably better with compiz and rotation than its Jaunty counterpart.
However, the video issue is still there. I played the .ogg video from example content in Totem on the rotated display, and the output was not rotated.
