Hi, I have the same problem on the screen of a Sony Vaio Pro (Intel i5 U4200), with Ubuntu Gnome 14.04.
I see vertical flickering lines when reproducing full-screen hi resolution videos (I have tried with SMPlayer and VLC, exact same issue). I have also tried to lower the resolution of the screen to 1360x768, but I get the same effect. However, it does not do it all the time (even playing with the same video). May it be linked to overheating somehow?
