Christopher, the laptop that I reported this bug for broke a little while back. I now use a newer Ubuntu release with a different laptop and no longer experience this bug. Given that nobody else has contributed to this bug report and I no longer experience this bug, I would be more than happy to have it closed. Thank you for your help.
