I can reproduce this problem on my Dell Inspiron N5010. If I shutdown my
laptop and leave it in a cold room for a few hours, then it freezes at
the "Ubuntu" boot screen (with dots indicating progress). By letting it
stay on for a few minutes, forcing the power off, and then booting
again, I am able to boot.
