I can confirm this bug also happens on a fresh install of Kubuntu 13.04 using a custom COMPAL notebook with Intel i915GM graphics driver.
To me the workaround is just press Fn+F5 (brightness up) when the screen goes blank, then the login screen appears normally. Also if I boot into recovery mode and choose "Resume" on the recovery options the screen is visible right away without having to press Fn+F5. All workarounds already presented on this bug report also work, so it is definitely the same bug. ** Attachment added: "lspci dump" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1168188/+attachment/3699302/+files/lspci_dump.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168188 Title: broken acpi backlight on lenovo g580 and ubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1168188/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
