Affects me too for a years (!), upgrades and reinstallations doesn't help. Recently, I have changed my hard disk and it helps me, but after a few months bug was reproduced again. Ubuntu freezes after first log in and works good after hard restart. It's really annoying :( Maybe Ubuntu just crashes our HDDs?
