My laptop (samsung 900x3e) screen also shows artifacts (mostly horizontal lines)
It is not only black lines, but also flickering on some of the first (top) lines of the screen. The artifacts in the top are always visible when in linux. The lines in the rest of the screen appear for example when selecting text in the gnome-terminal. Some of the artifacts even survive reboots, and are visible in windows after reboot.
