Thinking about this  I believe that the kernel update was the problem
when my system was updated. I don't think that the xserver-xorg-video-
intel was updated at the time.

I attached the Xorg.0.log.old above. It's all I can get as the system is
completely unusable once it has crashed.

Would love some help with this as I'm now using the vesa driver to keep
my system going - which is far from ideal.
