My cat could very well have installed the proprietary ATI driver--who
knows what she does while I'm away during the day! Otherwise, it was
probably installed during the Ubuntu installation process, since I don't
recall purposefully installing any video drivers (I did install some
drivers for the WiFi card), unless I inadvertently installed it when I
was trying to re-install the Intel drivers.

I have submitted the requested apport system information. If it's just a
matter of removing some offending drivers, I would appreciate the
indication of which package(s) to remove, as I'm not terribly familiar
with the low-level systems.
