I believe Radeon 9250 (RV280) is already supported by Ubuntu. I also have a Radeon 9250 AGP graphics card, and it works well. The discussion here is related to ATI Technologies Rage 128/128 Pro-based graphics, not the newer Radeon-based graphics.
