sorry, pls ignore comment #10. have tried suggestion as in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/UxaTesting. put Option "AccelMethod" "uxa" in xorg.conf, still not working. X server won't even start, can't get to gnome desktop at all, have to boot into recovery mode to change back to old xorg.conf
