The very same problem is happening on a HP Pavilion G62 which switches between two VGAs: HD 4200 and HD5400. I don't know if the problem is because HD 4xxx series is now legacy (unsupported) while HD 5xxx series is not, but I also tried setting up makson96's ppa to install fglrx- legacy drivers, but I only get a black screen. I'm now stuck with the open source drivers which suffer from overheating and my notebook shuts itself off before I can do anything.
