I think this bug is related to quantal outdated mirrors. I'm was using br.archive.ubuntu.com apt mirror. Today I reinstalled a lot of packages from main apt mirror and saw a lot of updates I don't saw at br.archive.ubuntu.com mirror. After install all packages from main mirror, nvidia-current install again.
Anyway, there are the packages "nvidia-173" that are uninstallable because dependency of packages are not in ubuntu.
