I do know that this is not a fix, but a workaround....

Those who are affected by the let's say 'pure Ivy Bridge Bug' (using the
HD4000 internal GPU), which results in a random complete system freeze
(bug #999910), should really try kernel 3.4.0 from the ubuntu kernel
mainline (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-precise/).
This was also stated in comment #117 in this bug report.

That is the only kernel that made my system (i5 3570k/asrock z77
extreme6/ubuntu 12.04 64bit) stable for a few days now.

There is still a discussion going on, whether or not the proposed fix
for bug #99910 (kernel 3.2.0.27 #44) is making the system stable...
