the same here: nVidia Corporation NV44 [GeForce 7100 GS] (rev a1) driver 302.17 on Gentoo Linux / 686 (32 bit) / Kernel 3.4.4
syslog is flooded with "NVRM: os_pci_init_handle: invalid context!" and after a while I get "NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus." with same symptoms as described above...
