I see that under the gui "system settings" --> "additional drivers",
there are two drivers for NVIDIA

NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended]--Activated
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates) (version
current-updates)--Not Activated

I don't understand the difference. Is the second one suppose to be a
fix?, ie post-release updates. Should I try it even though it is not
the recommended driver?

$uname -a:
Linux donatello 3.2.0-26-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 17:49:24 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ lspci | grep VGA
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G92 [Quadro FX 3700] (rev
a2)
