You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Done a fresh install , Ubuntu 9.10 32bits, after updates and restart,
went to the System -> Hardware drivers and activated the Nvidia drivers
version 185. After reboot and logging in, everything is very, very slow
and icons in at the right in the top bar disappeared, although they are
still click-able. Tried the Nvidia-drivers version 173, same problem.
Removed the drivers and everything is back to normal.
My Laptop is a Asus a6jc with a nvidia 7300g
