I have got fglrx to work on Ubuntu/Jaunty with the latest driver from ati (ati-driver-installer-9-8-x86.x86_64.run). Here is the installation guide I used: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Jaunty_Installation_Guide#Installing_the_drivers_manually
It is not perfect, but at least it works.
