Hi, I had the sames isues with 11.10 just after removing the KDE standard bluetooth manager. I think this is related to a misconfiguration or abusive removal of some KDE key packages. After reinstalling some of thoses key packages I could login again just has before.
So if it happens to you, try reinstalling every KDE key package that were altered by any previous uninstall / upgrade operation. F.
