OK, if that's your main issue then this is actually an X bug, not really an installer bug. Perhaps https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting can give some hints on collecting enough information that would make it easier for the X team to fix this bug? You might be able to add the "break =casper-bottom" boot parameter to stop at a point in the boot process before X starts so that you can collect information.
