Hi, I have same problem on HP Pavilion dm1, on Debian, with Kernel 3.0.0-1. After booting up, a screen coruption appears, and screen is unusable. Alt-Ctrl-F1, F7 doesn't work, however system is up and running, probably accessible by network, as well Alt-SysRq magic sequences works, so system is no crashed. adding nomodeset somehow improves situation, but there are still crashes, and problems switching consoles.
