You have been subscribed to a public bug: Machine is: Kubuntu 9.04 (with KDE 4.2.96 - but this shouldn't matter here) xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.3 Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) Mobile IntelĀ® GM45 Express Chipset Notebook LVDS is 1280x800 External panel used at 1024x768
I'm trying to configure X for a dual-view wide desktop. Using a minimal xorg.conf and playing with xrandr I found the following reproducable limitation this works: xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x768 --pos 0x0 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --pos 770x0 this causes an xorg crash: xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x768 --pos 0x0 --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --pos 771x0 So the largest working desktop has an effective extent of 2050x800. I saw something about a 2048 virtual limitation https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10299#c18 Not sure if there's a connection. Bottom line: on this machine dual head only works with cloning. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- crash on intel GM45 with screen offset > 770 https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/401164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
