Are you still experiencing this issue? There were a bunch of fixes to
the input stack the past couple weeks and I'm wondering if that might
have resolved it.
Fwiw, you may be right it's a kernel issue, although these can be highly
hardware-specific, so while you might share similar symptoms as bug
#582809 it may not be a dupe; especially since that one was filed
against maverick.
