I also have been having system freezes since 10.04. Two types of symptoms , 1. mouse hangs , does not seem to depend on any particular activity, only cure is hard boot. 2. if sound is playing approx 2 seconds of sound is repeated continuously in addition to mouse freeze. Only cure is hard boot.
This has happened on clean installs of 10.04, 10.1 and 11.4 , all exactly same symptoms.
