In case is searching and come across this - my experience: Using Ubuntu Jaunty, 2.6.28-11 kernel - I tried various nvidia drivers (177 worked but had poor performance with Gnome Do/Docky). I tried various 180 versions (incl 180.27 that others professed success with) and latest 185 but all failed to resume. Finally came across 180.60 and that works like a charm!
