I got a freeze again, so option 4) ist definitely not true. Furthermore Composite is still disabled so this is not a workaround for the problem.
The hang occured when many applications were open and this time I did not have any Kopete Chat Windows opened (although kopete itself was running). Just before X freezes the mouse-cursor gets damaged and a few seconds later everything gets real slow. I than logged via ssh into the defect machine and attached gdb to the process.
