So, the static-mesa blender from blender.org works fine even with the official ubuntu repo versions of xserver, xorg-video-intel, mesa and libdrm. I can confirm this on Jaunty.
But, I think this bug is still valid because the non-static-mesa version of the blender doesn't work with the latest mesa (that has Ian Romanick's patches on it). Is this status information right?
