I also have problems with the fglrx driver. When I boot up with fglrx I
only get a frequency out of range message from my monitor. ( It runs at
43.0 Hz) I can fix this by running xrandr blindly (login and Alt + F2
without seeing something) but then I get 4 distorted ubuntu logos in the
upper part of my monitor (Hyundai ImageQuest L17T). The difference is
that I can switch to the VTs, which are working normally.

The open source radeon and the radeonhd drivers are working normally,
but I miss the 3D acceleration and compiz.

The fglrx driver worked well under intrepid (the one from the
repositories). So I reinstalled Interpid and tried out fglrx 8.612 with
the same failure. I also have karmic Alpha 1 installed where the driver
also doesn't work.

I have attached some logs and outputs from my machine.
