You can check your version very easily, The about window has a config
button that shows the compile time options. The version of ardour I have
from ardour.org (4.1) has phonehome=true and the package from Ubuntu
(3.5.408) has phonehome=false. So if you want a newer version that our
package, it is possible to DL the source and build with phonehome
disabled.
