Hello release team,

I would like to request an SRU exception [1] for the lxd-agent-loader
and lxd-installer packages in all supported Ubuntu releases. I have
created a wiki page [2] that outlines everything I believe is relevant
to this SRU exception.

Both packages have undergone significant improvements since the versions
shipped in 20.04, and the LXD team is eager to make these enhancements
available across all supported releases.

For lxd-agent-loader, the main improvement is the enhanced reliability
of the service during boot. Additionally, a recent update prevents
disruptive restarts during upgrades, which will be beneficial for users
upgrading their LXD VMs from 20.04 to 22.04.

As for lxd-installer, after being introduced in 19.04 it remained
unchanged until 24.04, when we began enhancing the user experience. This
increased focus was driven by the removal of LXD snap from all server/
cloud images, with lxd-installer now responsible for installing LXD on-
demand from the appropriate snap channel.

Currently, only lxd-installer has DEP-8 tests, but I plan to add tests
for lxd-agent-loader in the future. As explained in the QA section of
the wiki page [2], every new version and backport will also undergo
manual testing.
These two packages are unique in that their authoritative sources are
directly on Launchpad [3, 4], as they are developed by Canonical. Having
the same version of these packages across all supported releases would
provide an optimal and consistent experience for our users, regardless
of which release they are currently using.

Thank you in advance for considering this request. Please let me know if
you need any additional information.

[1]: This is my first SRU exception request, but Lucas Kanashiro (my
mentor) has guided me throughout the process.
