Public bug reported:

The current Intrepid kernel, 2.6.27-2-generic, my Asus laptop fails to
boot when on battery power. Booting with "acpi=off" on battery power
works, as does booting with the laptop plugged in to power.

On battery my laptop halts fairly early in the boot process - the last
thing printed with the 'quiet' option is "kernel really alive", and I've
attached a photo of the output once the boot has halted without the
quiet option.

The 2.6.27-1 kernel boots fine on battery.

This laptop had a the reverse problem some time in the Hardy cycle - it
would fail to boot when plugged in to AC without "acpi=off". I can't
seem to find the bug report there.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
