I am working on GLWidget a cross-platform GTK# OpenGL Widget. http://glwidget.sourceforge.net I have run into this same problem on Ubuntu 8.04. It seems to only happen when the OpenGL widget in the GtkPaned is made smaller. I am changing my test code to not use GtkPaned and going to documenting on the GLWidget site that Compiz, GtkPaned, and OpenGL do not play well together.
