Thanks my laptop now boots fine using 2.6.27-2-generic, I no longer need to add
"nolapic_timer" on GRUB for it to boot properly. The message below still shows
but it no longer halts the boot process:
[0.532031] .. MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
I'll mark this as "Fix Released" and file a new bug if this resurfaces
later on.
