I already obtained the 2.6.27-1-generic kernel via 'Update Manager',
however sound had started working on my system prior to getting this new
kernel (around 2008-08-17 per my previous post). Sound is continuing to
work fine on my system with the 2.6.27-1-generic kernel and the
following two applications:
rhythmbox:

Flash movie aren't working at all at the moment, but I am traveling and
don't know if the ISP is blocking them or if it is an unrelated problem
with flash (video used to work but just not sound, now neither is
working). I'll try some flash videos again when I get home middle of
next week and add a comment or a flash bug report. If you need more
specific info please let me know. Thanks!
