Hi Leann/Brian,

a strange thing happened to me: I completely reinstalled (due to a major
problem with Windows) Kubuntu from 7.04 up to latest updates for 8.04,
and now the system starts even with kernel 2.6.24.x !!!

The only thing changed is that now Kubuntu is in the other hard disk (the
original one shipped with the comp). Before, I had Windows (obviously)
installed in the original disk and Linux in the other one added by me.
So, now the system is: sdb with Linux, and sda with Windows. sdb is now the one
in which I have also, I think, the boot master sector (or the grub program),
while sda is now in the secondary disk...

Now I'm supposing it was a problem between the boot sector disk and the
Linux disk.

This could be helpful for you?

So, at the moment kernel 2.6.24.x is working well, but in any case I'll
try to test the newer 2.6.27.

S.o. used now: Kubuntu 8.04, KDE 3.5.10

Regards,
