Public bug reported: With the update to the 2.6.27 kernel yesterday, screen refreshes using the Nvidia 177 driver, (GeForce 8400 on a Dell M1530) are often incomplete - i.e. when changing webpages inside Firefox, and/or pretty much any other multi-page window-based app, when navigating to a new page, will at best get only the line(s) beneath the mouse updated before having to click inside the window, at which point usually the rest of the page will refresh, though sometimes have to click multiple times within.
Also seems to affect screen resolution changes - i.e. still can't get the computer to hold @ 1280x800, 3D accelerated across sessions, (keeps falling back to 800x600 at the login screen). Smaller resolution changes work ok, but with a noticeable lag/refresh, (i.e. 800x600 to 1024x768 & 1024x768 to 1280x800) but larger resolution jumps, (i.e. 800x600 to 1280x800 directly) don't quite, showing only the 800x600 portion of the screen in the upper left, but @ 1280x800 resolution, with the rest of the screen being black. The menu bars, etc in the black area do indeed function if you know where they are, but do not restore display of the rest of the screen. Will say that I'm not sure if this is a newly-caused bug directly from yesterday's 2.6.27 release, or simply as a function of the forced upgrade from nvidia-glx-173, which I was using up through the 2.6.26 kernel, (-177 wasn't working quite right, but when trying to revert back to -173, an error popped up saying something about no DKMS for -173 with the 2.6.27 kernel). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Slow/Incomplete Screen Refreshes on Nvidia 177 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
