Dear Leann, many thanks for your email, which I appreciate much. The problem with the DVD did bug me for quite some time. I actually ended up switching players some days ago. The DVD player remains able to boot from CD/DVD, but cannot be accessed. Wery recently I noticed that the cdrom related devices in /dev where missing. So is started to investigate. It seems that this guy for some reason is half broken: I can boot, but it communicates to not be active, while showing up correctly in the logs. I have still a hard time to understand how this can happen, but that's what our sysadmin and I think has happend. After switching player (with identical hardware) all was fine.
my system $> uname -a Linux c1ulu34 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Fri Jul 11 23:41:49 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux cheers Thomas Leann Ogasawara wrote: > The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the > upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release.
