Some of you experiencing this problem might also be interested in bug # 204996. I said earlier in the comments (look under previous "John Ward" comment) that after I moved to the second gigabit adapter on my board (the nVidia CK804) the crashing problems ceased - this is incorrect, I should have written that comment a few hours later when it did eventually crash and now the crashes are regular and guaranteed. This could very well be a network issue but down to the Linux TCP/IP stack stressing rather than particular drivers or particular cards. In bug # 204996 this problem is affecting everything from differing wireless cards to differing network chipsets, not singular, specific cards.
