How was this issue resolved. I have come across the same problem trying to install klamav (v 0.42 using ClamAV 0.92.1) on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron).
I ran klamav after downloading and installing but selected 'cancel' during the install process as I did not have time to monitor the process. When I returned and reran the program it did not proceed to the 'first run' window - what appeared was an error dialog with the text 'Malformed URL media:/'. When clicking the OK button the main KlamAV window appears. Is this a bug? I uninstalled then reinstalled ClamAV, KlamAV, etc. I can't get the 'first run' installation process to start again and I still get the 'Malformed Media' error. Any help would be appreciated.
