Public bug reported: The https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization page talks about "remastering Ubuntu install CDs", but it does not make it explicit that some parts of that page don't apply to netboot images. (In particular, a warning that preseed/file cannot be used with netboot images (even when booting from CD) should be included.
Or, it might be enough to link to https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04 /installation-guide/i386/preseed-intro.html instead of https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/installation-guide/i386/preseed-using.html The point is that if one start at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization and follows prominent links, one will miss https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04 /installation-guide/i386/preseed-intro.html and the table of preseeding methods. Reading https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/installation-guide/i386 /preseed-contents.html (where I got by following a link from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization) I didn't even notice that it is just a sub-sub section in a larger document: that is only apparent from the navigation bar at the bottom of the page and is really easy to miss in such a long document. (shouldn't that navigation bar be at the top of the page instead?) ** Affects: installation-guide (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- the fact that some parts on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallCDCustomization does not apply to netboot images is not made explicit https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262356 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
