Public bug reported:

I did a aptitude full-upgrade on my Intrepid laptop today, and xserver-
xorg-video-intel was also updated from version 2.4.0-1ubuntu1 to
2.4.1-1ubuntu1. After a reboot KDE 4.1 would not start correctly. After
a while I managed to switch off desktop effects, which made the desktop
work. After experimenting with various 3D software (glxgears, nexuiz) it
was obvious that 3D acceleration was broken. With the previous driver
version 3D acceleration worked.

I am running an up-to-date Intrepid Ibex on a Lenovo Thinkpad X60s with
an Intel 945GM graphics adapter.

uname -a:
Linux tele 2.6.27-1-generic #1 SMP Sat Aug 23 23:20:09 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

lspci -nn | grep VGA:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03)

Glxinfo reports the following (the rest is attached): Failed to initialize TTM
buffer manager. Falling back to classic.
Glxgears says: Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual
