Public bug reported:

When starting intrepid switching to a vritual terminal (ctrl-alt-F1)
gives only a cursor.

It seems that it takes my user input, because when I type my login name
+ password, and switch back to the GUI, and open gnome-terminal, and run
who, I see myself logged in on tty1.

But the only visibile thing is the cursor, not really helpfull.

When booting the rescue mode I see the terminals, when resuming the boot, the
terminal stays visible after the GUI is loaded.

Why aren't the terminals visible in normal boot?
