I can confirm this bug on Hardy (proposed) i386 updated as of 27/08/08.
Attached is the output of running (and gdb, although this is probably useless 
as there is no debug version available).

I can also confirm that this bug does NOT exist in Intrepid (I downloaded the 
package from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/grsync , extracted the binary from the deb 
and ran it straight out of my home folder).  A backport would be really nice!
